OUR MISSION: To Spread the Gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ

YOUTH OUTREACH MINISTRY:

NOW TEMPORARILY LOCATED AT THE YALE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH

(AT THE TRAFFIC LIGHT IN YALE)

When: Wednesday Night from 7:00pm - 9:00pm

God has blessed us with the "Youth Outreach" which is now located at Yale United Methodist Church in Yale. This outreach was previously at our church's vacant parsonage and at the Southeastern Millworks Building Outside of Yale. For the the winter months and since then we moved from the Millworks building to the Church.

Outside Our New Building Location--Southeastern Millworks.

This youth outreach has been going on for over 5 years with kids in 7th grade to high school graduates and up. This is not closed in to Yale United Methodist by any means! All the youth of the community are welcome.

Although we are located in the small town of Yale, we have quite a crowd of kids coming off the street. Kids come in and make friends with other Christians and we have a team of dedicated youth leaders who have accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior and are committed to serve by ministering to these youth every week. Right now we have joined with the Yale UMC Youth Group until our new building project is complete. The goes from 6:30 pm until 8:30 pm every Wednesday, throughout the entire year (even during the summer months).  Our devotion time usually starts at 7:30 pm.  We also encourage the kids to talk, pray, and help each other through problems. All talks are base on the Word of God.

We have had up to 50 kids some weeks but during these summer months we are closer to 30 on average. The great thing is that new kids are coming all the time and are getting the gospel along with some testimonies of people that God has changed. Some of these kids know little or nothing about God coming in and for some of them this is the only place they are learning about God.

We don't ask for donations but you are certainly welcome to give to our ministry though the Yale United Methodist Church itself (just let the know it's for the Street Ministry). More importantly we ask for your prayers that God would continue to anoint our youth leaders and give strength and desire to continue in this ever so important ministry.

We are in the beginning stage for building plans for a youth center/fellowship hall to give us better facilities and to bring more kids to the Lord.

TAKING THE GOSPEL TO THE STREETS:
We have recently taken the gospel to the streets with the kids that we work with on Wed Night. You may have seen us at the Croswell stockyards, parades, and other public places. This is done by a combination of our Wed Night youth, youth group, our congregation and others. You don't have to be a youth to get involved in this street ministry--just a desire to serve the Lord Jesus Christ.

It is our prayer hopes that all the churches in our area, and throughout the state, and our nation, will pick up on these simple things and see how easy it is to take the gospel to the streets. If you're a youth leader, or just someone who wants to serve the Lord but your not sure how, we would like to talk with you. We would be glad to answer any questions on how to get something like this started in your own hometown or church. Likewise, we would appreciate anything from your experience in street ministry. We also invite you join us in spreading the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. Our ultimate goal is to build up and encourage the body of Christ of other churches as well to reach outside the four walls and change the world for Jesus.

Here a couple examples the Lord has allowed us to serve:

PARADES: (tract hand out) $120 easily buys 2000 gospel tracts (depending on which ones you buy) and a few thousand pieces of candy. If your church is going to have a parade why not spread the gospel at the same time?? If your ambitious, you can even staple a piece of candy to each tract before hand. You can even do without the candy to save time and money. People will take the tracts 99.5% of the time in this setting. Get a few balloons and ribbons and decorate your car or church van if you like. This is a very cheap way of getting the gospel message out.

There are many places to buy gospel tracts. We like to get ours at www.livingwaters.com. Either that or we have our own custom tracts printed for certain occasions.

FLEA MARKETS: (prayer tent and tracts)

  • We borrowed a small 10x10 canopy and a long table and a few chairs from the church.

  • 100 crosses from the oriental trading company or eBay for 10 - 20 cents a piece OR LESS. - Spent about $60

  • 10 cases of water - (36 pack for around $4 at Sam's Club) - $45

  • 1500 Gospel tracts - Around $80 (but could be as little as $15 if you buy the cheap ones!)

  • We spend around $15 for the spot at the Croswell stockyards

  • Bibles - we had about 25 that were laying around but I later found that you can buy KJV, NKJV or NIV bibles for a dollar at some dollar stores! You could buy a couple cases to hand out to people.

Some of us went around and handed out the tracts while others stayed at the prayer tent to talk with people, pray with people, and give them all of the stuff above for free including a gospel tract. People are surprised to see that you are giving away all this stuff for free. We had a great time in the Lord and had cordless radio playing contemporary worship music at the tent. So for $170 - $250 You could do a lot.

Last year (2009) we doubled the amount of tracts (3000 tracts) at the stockyards and added more free stuff to give away.  Granted, some people didn't read the tract but, you know that others read it and showed it to their group and/or kept it and took it home. You could easily reach 4000-5000 people with the gospel with those 3000 tracts..

2010 DATES TO BE ANNOUNCED!

2009 EVENTS WE ATTENDED:

The Port Huron Parade

The Yale Bologna Parade

Croswell Stockyards

Community Food Give-Away (Holiday Meals to Needy Families in the Yale Area)

If you would like to join us feel free to email us

Just an Encouraging Note: You would be surprised if you have never handed out tracts before. Most people take them and say thank you. We have found that only a very small percentage tell you no thanks and an even smaller percentage will give you negative feedback. We pray for a boldness and a desire to reach people with the gospel and the Lord always provides.

MORE COMING SOON! If your church or youth group is doing a similar outreach let us know what type of street ministries you do. We are always looking to learn more and better ways of getting the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the masses. God Bless you and strengthen you and your Church. We urge you to get something like this started at your church. Let's unite for Christ!
